2019 NZ Food Award Finalist!
We are delighted to have just been named a Finalist in the NZ Food Awards 2019!We feel privileged to share this achievement with our Hawke’s Bay blueberry grower, Dan. It’s great to see excess blueberries that don’t make the grade for the fresh market come up a potential winner as a preserve!
With less sugar than our traditional jams, Grower Series Blueberry preserve is already a winner in our eyes! Keep a look out for it in your local New World or Pak’n Save.
We excitedly await the Gala Dinner on 23 October for the Winners’ announcements.
One of this year’s judges, Chef Geoff Scott explains. Plant-based product entries were up this year, as well as vegan products, food with hemp-based elements and allergen-aware foods such as dairy-free and gluten-free.
“I guess that’s a real reflection of where we see the interests in the New Zealand consumer driving that. Food companies are responding with a push towards a lot of plant-based food products this time around – much more than last year,” he says.
The New Zealand Food Awards are an opportunity for businesses to benchmark their product against others, he adds. “I think it gives New Zealand companies an awesome opportunity to showcase their expertise and the standards that they’re setting with their business practice against other companies. I think it’s a really good measuring stick, shows excellence and recognises innovation and creativity within the food and beverage industry within New Zealand, and I think that’s such a fantastic thing to have.
